| A brief insight to how Whorecake.co.uk came to be. |

February, 2006 Hosting: StreamlineNET My endeavour in web design and development began when I had just turned 10. Like most at that time, my first website was built with page-builder software from Freewebs, and many similar sites. Shortly after creating this website, I became tired with the lack of customisation these websites offered, and I wanted to have my own personal site and blog. This was mostly down to jealousy, and the challenge which lay behind it. I started off with a rather expensive domain, which in all honesty, had very little features and was very underdeveloped. I purchased this without doing any research, as I was caught in a hype about getting my own domain. I had that site for about 6 months, and within that time I built up my skills in web design and development, and graphic design on programs such as Photoshop, and Paint Shop Pro. Once I figured out that the domain I was currently on was ripping me off, I cancelled my subscription, and stopped designing websites for a while, as the search for a unique website name was a difficult one at the time. "Whorecake" is mostly seen as an insult thrown at females, yet the name actually came from a poem I wrote for a competition in 2005. It was created due to excessive amounts of coffee, chain-smoking, and an urge for ''poetic individuality''. It was purchased for £22 at StreamlineNET on 12th February, 2006, when I finally got back into web design after continuous nagging from friends and family. I have now been on this website for over a year, and intend to stay for as long as possible. That is how Whorecake.co.uk came to be. Back |
